Live Roulette Online Game & Payouts in NZ Explained

Online casinos are very new when you think about how long gambling has been around. It’s believed that people used to gamble in 3000 BC! However, the most development in the trend has been seen in the last 500 years.

Among the games that came out to be the most popular all over the world, Roulette is one. So, when online casinos became the norm, online roulette games became too. And the latest addition to that is live casino roulette games that you play for real money.

The purpose of this page is to educate you on what live roulette online is, how they are played at live roulette casinos, the rules, and everything else. We’ve worked very hard in New Zealand so that you can enjoy all types of live dealers roulette after you navigate to the page.

What is Live Casino Roulette?

Roulette is one of the simplest casino games out there. It’s completely based on luck. The only thing that’s in your hands is how you want to distribute your bets on the table. Whether it’s roulette at brick-and-mortar casinos, online casinos, or live roulette casino, the primary principles remain the same.

The topic of this page, live roulette online refers to the live variant of the game. When you navigate to the live casino page as online casinos, you’ll find tables with beautiful and professional dealers. From American Roulette to European Roulette to French Roulette, nothing is off-limits for NZ gamblers when we’re around.

How to Play Live Roulette Online

Playing live casino roulette is not very different from playing it at a physical casino or the RNG versions. Based on what title you choose, you might see a dealer with a complete live roulette online setup or a dealer with only the wheel. By a complete setup, we mean a full-scale table and the wheel beside it.

At the same time, you’ll see the table layout on your screen. One of the best things about live dealer roulette is that it’s an interactive game. You can input your values and decorate the roulette table however you like it right from your screen. The OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology will blend the virtual table and reality to calculate the outcome of your bet.

If you’re not familiar with live roulette online, there are 36 numbers on the table, written in ascending order. It’s a 3×12 grid layout meaning there are 3 numbers in a row and 12 columns to house all 36 numbers.

Now, if it’s a European live roulette online game, you’ll see one 0. It should be located right on top of the table. If it’s an American live dealer roulette online, there will be a 0 and a 00. Both of them will be located on top of the table.

Right below the table, there are three extra slots, usually labelled as “2 to 1” or ”2:1”. This is known as the column bet and it pays to double your stake.

On the left-hand side of a live roulette online table, there are 9 more bets arranged in two rows. The first row has 3 slots labelled “1st 12”, ”2nd 12”, and ”3rd 12”. These 3 are outside bets that pay 2:1. You betting on any of these simply means you’ll get paid if the ball lands on any of the numbers that come under your bet.

On the second row, there are “1 to 18”, “Even”, “Red”, “Black”, “Odd”, and “19-36” bets. All of these are even-money bets, meaning they pay an equal amount of what you bet.

All of the bets in these two rows along with the column bet are known as outside bets in live dealer roulette. The reasoning behind the name is very simple. These bets are located outside the main table.

As there are outside bets, there are inside bets in live dealer roulette games as well. Different combinations of stakes that you put on the numbers are considered inside bets. Let’s take a look at what your options are at a live casino roulette table at casinos.

  • Straight Up: This is when you have placed your bet on a single number. It pays 35:1.
  • Split: Your bet is split between two numbers. Hence, the payout is split into 17:1 as well.
  • Basket: 0, 1, 2 or 0, 2, 3 combinations are called baskets. It pays 11:1.
  • Street: similar to the basket but doesn’t include the 0. Pays 11:1.
  • Corner: The combination of four numbers. It’s called a corner because you need to put your chips on any corner where it covers four numbers. It pays 8:1.
  • Six Line: As the name suggests, it includes 6 numbers from the table. The simplest way to place it is to change your street bet. Instead of covering one row, you’ll cover two rows. This bet pays 5:1.
  • Sucker Bet: This is only possible in American live dealer roulette because it requires both the 0 and the 00. When you include 0, 00, 1, and 3 in the same bet, it’s known as a sucker bet and it pays 6:1.

At the very beginning of a live casino roulette round, the live dealer you see on the screen will spin the wheel and let the white ivory ball go. This is when the virtual table on your screen will come alive and you have to place your bets.

You’re free to make different combinations of bets based on how many chips you have and how much you’re willing to risk at once. The inside and outside bets are the core concepts of live roulette casino games, but your options are infinite. You can place multiple straight-up bets, splits, or streets as you see fit. But we don’t recommend it because the payouts may not cover the bets.

Once the dealer waves his/her hand over the table, it means you can’t make any more changes to your bets.

Outside bets are the safest in general. They pay very less when compared to inside bets but your odds of winning are greater.

p until this point, the only thing we haven’t covered is the French Roulette. Well, French Roulette is similar to European Roulette with a different table layout. Instead of having all the outside bets on one side of the table, French live roulette online has them distributed on both sides. The order of numbers on the wheels is also different. But the payouts are identical to European and American Roulette.

How to Find the Best Live Roulette Casino?

You’re already here. We have the best collection for NZ gamblers to enjoy a live roulette casino, whether it’s European, French, or American. The house edge is very critically maintained here so you don’t have to worry about unfair practices.

Speaking of the house edge, it’s the mathematical advantage a casino has over you. On European and French Roulette, the house edge is 2.70%. And for the American variant, it’s 5.26%. It’s more in the American variant because there’s an extra zero on the table and the wheel.

There’s a complex formula of how to calculate house edge. Let’s not get into that. Just keep in mind that American roulette has a greater house edge.
